Are you passionate about your work and committed to helping make our communities safe whilst helping prisoners turn their lives around?

CIE Instructors train prisoners to improve their work habits, skills and experience within a business-like environment, increasing prisoners' chances of obtaining sustainable employment on release.

In your role as a CIE Instructor you will:

  • teach and assess prisoners' work habits, skills and provide on-the-job work experience
  • maintain custodial responsibility of prisoners, ensuring their safe, secure and humane containment
  • ensure goods and services produced meet agreed quality standards and contractual agreements.

Instructors train prisoners in industries and occupations that provide the most relevant experience and training for sustainable and legitimate employment after release.

What qualifications do you need to become an Instructor?

A related trade qualification is desirable; however extensive work experience in the particular trade/industry is just as important. Experience in training, coaching and assessing adults is an advantage.
