Everyone at Corrections has a contribution to make towards achieving a reduction in re-offending and making New Zealand a safer place to be.

To operate in a joined-up and responsive manner the Department of Corrections has a One Team structure that enables teams to work together effectively. It is made up of five Groups led by a Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team:

The Executive Leadership Team works together to provide a clear and unified vision for Corrections. They lead by example, demonstrating strong leadership and inspiring us all to contribute directly to our priorities of reducing re-offending, improving public safety, better public value and visible leadership.

Working with the Regional Managers, the Executive Leadership Team sets direction, develops our strategy and business plans.

Governance Committees

Governance Committees form the primary way for Corrections to debate and test innovation, keep project oversight, evaluate initiatives and assess new ideas for implementation. The Governance Committees focus on:

  • Service Delivery
  • Service Development (including a policy forum)
  • Finance
  • Information Technology
  • Human Resources
  • Frontline issues (including a frontline staff forum)
  • Reducing re-offending.
