Finance, Systems & Infrastructure provides a range of strategies and services that support the delivery of Corrections’ core business, and ensure the Department’s ability to maintain consistent service delivery regardless of external events and crises.

Finance and Performance Monitoring & Reporting

Finance coordinates the preparation of external accountability requirements for the Budget Estimates, monthly reports and Annual Reports and is responsible for establishing relationships with Treasury, Audit Office and the State Services Commission on these matters.

The group has the responsibility for overseeing the financial management activities across all of the Department’s Groups and Services and the production of year-end financial statements as required by the Public Finance Act 1989 for inclusion in annual reports.

Finance are responsible for developing systems to forecast cash flows; monitoring and maintaining Department’s Capital Asset programmes and establishing capital plans which meet the strategic objectives of the organisations, and manage an internal budget process which matches available resources to organisational priorities.

It is also responsible for output/outcome monitoring and international benchmarking activities. It also monitors key performance indicators for the Department which are used for management reporting and for answering public requests for information.

Procurement

Procurement is responsible for the vision, leadership and strategic direction for the development, implementation and maintenance of the Department's procurement strategy, processes and systems.  This includes managing Accounts Payable.

The team aims to achieve recognised good practice procurement that complies with Government policy and state sector guidelines, including whole of life costing and sustainability.

Information and Technology

The Information and Technology Unit is responsible for meeting the information and telecommunications needs of Corrections’ staff. The Unit’s work includes:
  • strategic planning and policy development
  • evaluating new technologies
  • centrally procuring hardware and software
  • developing Corrections-specific software such as the Integrated Offender Management System for managing offender records
Maintaining and supporting over 7,621 desk phones, 2,045 cellphones, 6,944 personal computers, 2,019 printers and 472 servers.

Facilities Management

Facilities Management acts as a ‘landlord’ of Corrections’ land and buildings. Facilities Management sets design requirements for all facilities, supervise the building of new units at existing prisons, and manage the upgrading and maintenance of all land and buildings. Compliance with statutory requirements of building operations and land use, energy management and all asset-accounting functions fall within the section.
Facilities Management staff are located at every prison site and at head office.
