Rehabilitation and Reintegration Services (RRS) manages the portfolio of Corrections' interventions delivered to prisoners and community-based offenders.

RRS uses available evidence of effectiveness in reducing re-offending to:

  • provide the most effective interventions 
  • determine which offenders will benefit the most from the interventions
  • continually improve the interventions portfolio.

Focus in 2011-2012

For 2011-2012 Rehabilitation and Reintegration Services is focusing on:

  • improving engagement with community-based offenders
  • increasing drug and alcohol services
  • improving offender access to education
  • supporting employability on release
  • improving rehabilitation programmes for prisoners, including youth
  • addressing Maori re-offending
  • the RRS establishment programme.
