Welcome to the Department of Corrections.

This section provides an insight into the many different types of work available within the Department and details of current vacancies.

Corrections enforces the sentences and orders of the criminal courts. The Department's work holds offenders to account for their actions and improves public safety in two main ways:

• By ensuring offenders comply with their sentences Corrections protects the community from those threatening its safety.
• Corrections works to rehabilitate offenders, thereby reducing re-offending and leading to fewer victims of crime in the future

We recognise that our staff have a vital role to play in meeting the Department's vision of improving public safety and reducing re-offending and it is our staff who will help us to succeed in our goals.  Our staff work in a challenging field, working closely with offenders to ensure full compliance with their sentences and setting a positive example.

The continual growth and development of this pool of knowledge is vital for the Department to keep innovating and discovering better ways of working.
