What is the salary range?

Managers are remunerated in accordance with the Department’s remuneration policy. The Department will review each managers remuneration package at least every 12 months and notify the managers individually in writing to any changes in remuneration.

What skills/qualifications are needed?

It’s a challenging and rewarding role that requires initiative and passion to make a real difference.

You need to work effectively with people from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. You need to be able to motivate staff to deliver quality sentence management.

You'll need to be a strong leader with an analytical approach to problem solving, the ability to manage people and time, and have excellent communication and relationship building skills.

It is important that you’re able to identify and effectively manage risks, and ensure a high standard of work is delivered by your team.

You’ll need good computer skills and a full driver licence.

I’ll be managing probation officers; do I need to have done that job?

No, but a clear understanding of what the role entails would be hugely beneficial. Shadowing a probation officer would be part of the induction for new recruits.

Will I need to wear a uniform?

Corrections work-wear is available for all staff who do not wear a custodial or other uniform (such as health care uniforms).

New staff who work on the frontline with offenders or members of the public (such as probation officers, programme facilitators, case managers and more) may be eligible to receive an initial one-off payment of $200.00 towards the purchase of work-wear.
