The Ministry of Justice (external link) employs Victim Advisers at courts nationwide to help victims of crime participate in the criminal justice system if they choose to do so. They inform victims about the progress of their court case and explain the rights of victims throughout the justice system. Victim Advisers provide advice and information about the process for applying to receive information about an offender.

Victim Support (external link) plays an important role in supporting victims of crime. It acts as an advocate for victims' rights and works closely with Police in assisting victims. Victim Support workers also help eligible victims apply to receive information about the offender.
