The Department of Corrections will inform victims of the following:
For offenders in prison
- If the offender escapes
- If they are released - for offenders sentenced to two years imprisonment or less
- If an offender dies in custody
- If an offender is temporarily released (including on release to work)
- When an offender has an upcoming parole hearing (see New Zealand Parole Board information)
For offenders serving a community sentence
- If the offender leaves a home detention residence unauthorised
- If they are released from home detention
- Applications for extended supervision orders
- Granting of extended supervision orders
- Death while on home detention, parole or while subject to an extended supervision order
- Decision to make interim recall order
- Decision to make or refuse final recall order
- Decision to quash interim or final recall order
- Convictions for breaching conditions of release imposed by the court or the New Zealand Parole Board
- Convictions for breaching conditions of home detention
- Convictions for breaching conditions of extended supervision orders
