A recruitment campaign to attract more than 70 new staff for the new Otago Region Corrections Facility (ORCF) kicks off this month.
The campaign includes print and radio advertising, mail drops and recruitment seminars throughout the Otago region that are fronted by ORCF Prison Manager Jack Harrison and his team.
Jack says the campaign will appeal to people across the board looking for a secure career that offers variety and a challenge.
“One thing potential prison officers will have in common is the ability to act as positive role models for prisoners. They will be working in a facility designed to encourage self responsibility and prepare prisoners for their release back into the community,” says Jack.
The campaign continues the positive role model theme that has underpinned previous campaigns targeting corrections officers.
People featured in advertising are ‘positive role models’ currently working at Dunedin and Invercargill Prisons.
Jack says interest from the local community in roles at the new prison bodes well.
“We’re very positive down here in the South Island about the way our recruitment efforts are going and we’re working very closely with the region to ensure consistency and that overall recruitment objectives are met.”
The campaign’s messages extend to other roles within Corrections including nurses, probation officers, Corrections Inmate Employment staff, administrators and HR staff. The campaign will run until mid-November.
