Chief Executive Barry Matthews is calling for nominations for the PRIDE Awards 2006.

The awards salute professionalism, responsiveness, integrity, diversity, effectiveness and efficiency (PRIDE) in Corrections staff.

“Having a PRIDE Chief Executive Award encourages individual and group achievement of the Department’s values and provides an opportunity to celebrate and recognise people at an organisational level in a visible way,” says General Manager Strategic Services Mike Martelli.

The award is open to individual staff members and also groups. Nominations can be made by managers, and all staff are welcome to suggest eligible recipients. Nominations must outline how the nominee demonstrates the PRIDE values in work, relationships, themselves and Corrections vision, kaupapa and values. These must be forwarded to the appropriate general manager for consideration before going to the selection panel.

While it is expected that five or six awards will be made, the number will be determined by the calibre of nominations. The qualifying period is October 2005-September 2006. Nominations close on October 30 and need to be with the appropriate General Manager by that date. Award recipients are expected to be announced before Christmas.

A presentation ceremony is planned for early next year in Wellington. Award recipients will receive a framed certificate, letter, and a memento.
