Warwick Duell

Long-serving staff members Warwick Duell and Harris Shortland have been awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit in recognition of their hard work and services to Corrections.
Warwick is modest about his appearance in the New Year’s honours list and quick to praise his colleagues in the Probation Service.
“This honour isn’t only about me, it’s about the people I’ve worked with,” he says.
“Our work’s not easy. I’m very pleased that our dedication has been recognised.”
Warwick is currently in Vanuatu, helping to establish a Department of Correctional Services over there. He is also managing Corrections’ probation and parole projects in Samoa.
Harris recently retired and is spending time with whanau and friends on the East Coast. Highlights of Harris’ achievements can be found in our farewell to him on the back page of the December 2006 Corrections News.
Warwick and Harris will receive their awards from Governor General Anand Satyanand at a ceremony in late March.
