Kim Workman

Kim Workman, National Director of Prison Fellowship New Zealand, acknowledged the support of Corrections when he was invited to join the New Zealand Social Entrepreneur Fellowship, a group of 15 outstanding change-makers, who meet to swap ideas and skills and meet philanthropists who may help with funding.
“Prison Fellowship couldn’t have introduced new programs without the support of Corrections,” says Kim.
“Senior management from Corrections have been prepared to engage in lateral thinking and go out on a limb to try new things. Without that support, we would still be knocking on the door.”
“Introducing innovative projects into government departments is a risky business,” he adds.
“The international experience is that you can expect initial resistance and excessive compliance requirements. The only way to survive is to build long-term relationships and get moral support within the Corrections system.”
