Christchurch Community Probation Service staff and families doing their bit for the community at the Big Rig Show.

2007-03-18-probation

Community Probation Service staff in Christchurch entered a team of six women and six men into a truck-pull competition in support of Special Needs Kids, the Child Cancer Foundation and Rotary Youth programmes.

The Beaurepaires truck-pull competition was part of the Garden City Rotary Big Rig Show held at Addington Raceway, which attracted around 5000 visitors.

"We all had a very enjoyable day and it was good to be contributing to the welfare of children in our community," says Christchurch Area Manager Nick Scott.

Offenders on community work sentences from the Christchurch Probation Service were also involved in the day.

Garden City Rotary Big Rig Team Member Clint McInnes says two work parties helped to put up tents and arrange hay-bales on the day before the event, and a further work party was on site during the day to help clean up.

"It was great to get this help as it’s a very large job setting up and taking down an event of this size," he says.

"We appreciate Corrections' involvement in the Big Rig Show and thank them for their enthusiastic community support."
