Nelson mayor Kerry Marshall and family violence co-ordinator Gayle Helm with the Violence Free campaign flag.To show their ongoing commitment to family violence prevention, Nelson Community Probation & Psychological Services (CPPS) staff have sponsored a community agency flag raised to mark the city’s ‘Violence Free August’ campaign.

Most CPPS staff also attended the July 31 ‘Let’s Make Nelson Tasman Violence Free’ meeting held at the city’s Trafalgar Steps.

Nelson CPPS staff meet weekly with key agencies including the Police, Children Young Persons and their Families, and Women’s Refuge to share information about reported family violence.

The Service Centre also provides funding and referrals to programmes dealing with domestic violence.
