The activities of the 3AM Ministries are now an established part of the monthly routine at Mt Eden prison in Auckland. Volunteer Mike Bates tells more.

The first Sunday of every month finds volunteers from various Seventh Day Adventist churches in Auckland entering the fortress like building which is Mt Eden Prison.

Five years ago, the Lord opened the prison doors to Warwick and Lupe Hill who coordinate the activities of 3AM Ministries. Up to four church services are held in various areas of the prison complex, where the gospel is shared with the prisoners. Free Bibles and literature are distributed and prisoners are invited to write to 3AM if they would like to receive Bible studies, have food parcels delivered to needy family members or just have someone to correspond with.

As a result, many letters are received each month from prisoners throughout the NZ prison system. The following comments drawn from some of these letters bear testimony to the extent that hearts are being touched by the gospel messages presented;

“When my sister told me she received a food parcel and a present for her son, I was overwhelmed. You wouldn’t believe how grateful I am. It’s amazing.”

“Dear 3AM. What a blessing, I am still singing with joy. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning in jail. I felt ministered to. My spirit was stirred by the blessed music.”

“Please hear my call for help and forgiveness, please pray for me.”

“I attended your Church group last Sunday and immediately felt at ease and comfort by your sermon.”

“I am keen on turning my life around and would like to start on any of your Bible studies.”

Dear 3AM Ministries. I want to thank your Church group for taking time to join us for a special ceremony on Sunday to worship the Lord.”

“Thank you so much for the KJV Bible and service you held with us. Bless you all.”
