At September’s meeting members of the Prison Volunteering Advisory Group were presented with a list of areas where volunteers with particular skills are being sought.  If you are able to help, or know someone that can, speak to your volunteer organisation. Alternatively, you can contact us direct on (04) 495 8428, or email volunteering@corrections.govt.nz

Canterbury - Bowls, badminton, board games and quiz sessions during the day. Touch, softball, cricket at Rolleston on Sunday afternoons. Art, smoking cessation and ESOL support.

Rimutaka - Performing arts, music, literacy development and support (including ESOL), creative writing mentors, life skills (e.g. cooking/home management).

Central - Literacy support (Tongariro), ESOL tutors and motivational speakers (Manawatu, Wanganui and New Plymouth), PT Instructor and Assistant Librarian (Hawke’s Bay).
