Corrections recognised Trees for Canterbury with a 2016 Community Work Partnership Award on 26 February.
Not-for-profit Trees for Canterbury has worked with Corrections for close to 20 years, giving placements to offenders serving community work sentences. They are a well-established community organisation that aims to protect the environment and meet the Green Effect Trust’s objectives of Employ, Educate and Regenerate.
Trees for Canterbury, and our other community work partners across the country, give offenders the opportunity to give something back to the community, and learn valuable work skills and habits.
Trees for Canterbury’s ability to connect with people is evident in the large number of offenders who successfully complete their sentence and continue to volunteer once their sentence is over.
The Corrections Community Work Partnership Award lets us show our appreciation for the people and groups who have shown commitment in supporting positive change in the lives of local offenders.
