This is your copy of the Department of Corrections' Code of Conduct.

All Department of Corrections employees have a responsibility to "maintain proper standards of integrity, conduct and concern for the public interest" (section 56 (3), State Sector Act 1988).

This Code outlines what the Department expects of you and what you can expect from the Department.

The nature of our work and the need for us to be positive role models for offenders means our professional and ethical standards must be set high.

We must also ensure our standards are not compromised by inappropriate behaviour that may undermine respect for the Department and its employees.

Please read through the Code and use it as a guide to your decision making and to help measure your actions.

I also make a personal commitment to you, as your employer, that all Department employees will be treated fairly and with respect.

Barry Matthews
Chief Executive
