The OIR should be completed:
This report is for Department of Corrections staff and will become part of the offender's electronic file. It therefore can be viewed by the offender upon request and could potentially be used as evidence in court.
Avoid the use of abbreviations and acronyms that rely on local knowledge. The information contained within this report needs to be understood by Department of Corrections staff in all parts of the country.
Follow the steps below to complete the OIR.

Complete each section of the report in IOMS as detailed in the next topic. |

Record any separate electronic alerts on the offender header screen if necessary. |

The report should be completed no later that 24 hours after sentencing. Note: If HD or Imprisonment is being recommended in the pre sentence report, then the OIR should be completed and available for sentence management staff (including PS) before the sentencing hearing. |

If completing the OIR following a short report, copy and paste the report into the case notes on the offender header screen. |

Record any separate electronic alerts on the offender header screen if necessary. |
