Introduction

This chapter covers guidelines and procedures for writing the offender information report (OIR).

Purpose

The report contains key information relevant to the sentence management of the offender but not considered necessary or appropriate for recording in a pre-sentence report for court.

The OIR will be completed at the pre-sentencing stage and will be used by CPPS and Prison Services (PS) staff in the management of the offender.

Note: The OIR can be completed post sentencing by Department of Corrections staff involved in assessing an offender's rehabilitative needs.
