This topic outlines the tasks to be undertaken following the completion of the general court list.

Post-sentencing report tasks

Follow the steps below to complete the post-sentencing report tasks.

Return the reports to administration staff for filing or relocation.

Follow up on any enquiries/tasks from the district court sentencing hearing as required.

  • Ensure the CPPS breach/application files heard during the sentencing list are administered correctly.
  • For service centres that use a court diary, enter details as required.

Record any information in IOMS as required.

Where HD has been canvassed

If (HD) was canvassed:

  • immediately contact the CPPS office nearest to where the offender proposed to reside if on HD, and
  • advise them that the offender has either:
    • been sentenced to HD, confirming the HD address, what travel arrangements have been made, the offender's expected time of arrival and the availability of the monitoring company, or
    • not been sentenced to HD, and to stand down the monitoring company.

If the offender has applied to be re-sentenced from imprisonment to HD, also advise prison staff (at the court or the receiving officer) of the outcome.

Where community detention has been canvassed

If community detention (CD) was canvassed advise CPPS office nearest to where the offender proposed to undertake CD of the court outcome, including date of the first curfew.

Offenders subject to parole

Use the table below to decide what action to take.

If the offender is… then…
subject to recall but has completed the special and standard conditions of their parole order, and received either a community-based sentence OR term of imprisonment
  • contact the service manager in the last office where the offender was serving their parole order, and
  • inform them of the sentencing outcome, requesting that enquiries be made into the possible recall of the offender.

Note: Offenders remain subject to recall until the sentence end date of their prison term, irrespective of whether they have completed the special/standard conditions of their parole order or not.
