The grounds for opposing bail can either be prepared by the supervising probation officer or the court officer.
Follow the steps below to prepare the information required for a district court bail hearing with the court officer.

Check any on-strength or oral information provided by supervising probation officers to see if any opposition to bail has been prepared. |

For those court servicing teams using a diary, check the court diary for any bail matters which have been recorded for that day's hearing. |

Locate the files identified for a bail hearing.

Become familiar with the written submissions and the grounds for which bail has been opposed. |

If a written submission has not been prepared, make notes in preparation for an oral submission. |

7 |
Inform the police/crown of the defendant(s) CPPS intends to oppose bail against. The police/crown may wish to support the CPPS application. |

Check with the police/crown if they require CPPS support on any bail matter they are opposing. Assess whether it is appropriate for CPPS to do so. |
