This topic contains details of the enquiries that are required as part of the HD re-sentencing report.

The probation officer will need to make sure they have received a copy of the offender's application and the courts request before undertaking any enquires.

Enquiries regarding the offender

The offender will not usually be interviewed as part of the HD re-sentencing report. It is assumed that most enquiries regarding the offender:

  • will have been made during pre-sentence enquiries, and
  • will continue to be relevant for the re-sentencing process.

An important part of the re-sentencing report is to update the court on the offender's behaviour and progress during their imprisonment sentence. This may involve:

  • discussions with the offender's case manager, and
  • reviewing PS information.

Important: The offender suitability section in the appendix will need to be updated using the same section in the earlier appendix.

Enquiries relating to the supporting appendix

Reference: For information about enquiries relating to the supporting appendix, see Volume 1 Appendix for Electronically-monitored Sentences/Orders.

Using the original supporting appendix

The earlier report and appendix will provide much of the background information to the HD re-sentencing report.

It is possible in some cases to submit an updated version of the earlier appendix.
