Sentence planner - final activities
The sentence planner should complete the following steps then they receive the PRP worksheet from the CPPS service manager.
| Step |
Action |
| 1 |
Action anything identified by CPPS and use the ‘Advice to Unit Staff’ form (SMP.6.F8) to inform the unit PCO of any actions arising from CPPS. |
| 2 |
Print a copy of the completed PRP worksheet and place it in the offender’s file (section A), removing the earlier version. |
| 3 |
Save the returned CPPS version of the PRP worksheet in the ‘Pre-release Planning’ folder, replacing the earlier version. This will ensure that there is only one current PRP worksheet for an offender at any one time. |
Advice to unit staff
The ‘Advice to Unit staff’ form (SMP.6.F8) is to inform the appropriate people of any actions they need to take for sentence management purposes in order to develop a robust and workable release proposal.
It is initiated by the sentence planner when:
- issues or actions are identified during a file review or interview with the offender for the PRP worksheet
- issues or actions are identified by the probation officer when the PRP worksheet is returned by CPPS.
The unit PCO ensures that the action has been carried out by the person mentioned in the form.
When the actions in the ‘Advice to Unit Staff’ form have been completed:
- a copy of the completed ‘Advice to Unit Staff’ form is printed and placed in the offender’s file (section A)
- the unit PCO sends the sentence planner an electronic copy of the completed form
- the sentence planner saves this form with the PRP worksheet.
