Introduction

This chapter outlines information about:

  • parole assessment reports
  • parole assessment report enquiries, and
  • how to prepare parole assessment reports.

There are two different types of parole assessment reports that Community Probation & Psychological Services (CPPS) staff are currently involved in preparing. These are the full parole assessment report and the addendum parole assessment report.

  • Full parole assessment reports are prepared when an offender is making their first appearance before the New Zealand Parole Board (NZPB) for a parole hearing.
  • Addendum parole assessment reports are prepared when an offender has previously been declined release on parole and is making subsequent appearances before the NZPB to be considered for parole.

Note: If residential restrictions (RR) are being canvassed, an appendix to the parole assessment report must be prepared.

Reference: For more information about preparing the RR appendix see Volume 1, Part VI, Chapter 5, Residential Restrictions Enquiries.
