Before inducting an offender, a probation officer should take the steps below to undertake a short file review, using the CD6 Induction Checklist. The offender should be asked to wait while the file review is completed.

Identify and prepare for any potential problems that may make it difficult for the offender to participate in the induction interview (e.g. literacy, language, hearing/speech impairment). |
