This chapter outlines the steps to take to order electronic monitoring (EM) equipment and notify the EM company if community detention (CD) is imposed.
Note: This process only occurs if the offender is sentenced to CD.
The senior community work supervisor is the CPPS staff member responsible for ordering the EM equipment and notifying the EM company if CD is imposed.
The first step to take is to determine whether or not the offender has been sentenced to CD.
The senior community work supervisor should consult IOMS or the probation officer in court on the day of sentencing to determine if the offender has been sentenced to CD.
If the offender has not been sentenced to community detention, then there is no need to take any further action in relation to CD.
If the offender is sentenced to CD, then the senior community work supervisor should proceed with ordering the EM equipment and notifying the EM company (as outlined below).
The following table outlines the steps to take to order EM equipment and notify the EM company once an offender is sentenced to CD.

Once the confirmation email has been received, the senior community work supervisor must copy and paste the email into IOMS casenotes.
Note: If confirmation is not received within one working day of sending the CD1 New Start Notification, then the senior community work supervisor should contact the EM company to determine if they received the CD1 New Start Notification.
The arrival of the EM equipment depends on when you notify the EM company of your request using the CD1 form. The following table outlines when the equipment will arrive dependant on when you send the CD1 form.

The EM equipment to be installed (i.e. the "box" or home monitoring unit (HMU), and the "tag" or ankle bracelet) will be delivered in a courier box. The EM equipment should be stored in the box until required for installation.
Once the equipment has been installed, the courier box must be stored for use when the equipment is de-installed and is to be returned to the EM company.
The following table outlines the steps to take with regard to receiving the EM equipment.
