This topic outlines information about investigating CD EM notifications.

Frequency

CD EM notifications should be read and investigated on when received for all offenders subject to CD.

 

Note: Staff are only expected to read and investigate the CD EM notifications on their normal working days (i.e. staff are not expected to read and investigate CD EM notifications on a Saturday if they do not usually work on Saturday, reports should instead be investigated on their next working day).

Who is responsible?

The following table outlines who is responsible for reading and investigating the CD EM notifications.

If the offender is subject to...  then the...
CD, or CD and community work (CW), a fine and/or reparation senior community work supervisor is responsible.
CD together with supervision or intensive supervision supervising probation officer is responsible.


What to look for

In reading and investigating the CD EM notifications, staff need to be aware of the curfew period and any authorised absences (eg. on humanitarian grounds or if also on supervision/intensive supervision).

The monitoring company will notify of any:

  • curfew violations
  • unauthorised movements by the offender in and out of the boundary during the curfew period
  • late arrival for or early departure from the curfew period
  • equipment tampers or faults, and
  • patterns in relation to the offender's behaviour (e.g. constant tampering with equipment, repeatedly departing early from the curfew period).
