Review existing documentation

The following documents will need to be reviewed (if they are available):

  • offender information report
  • casenotes
  • report from sponsor/service provider
  • pre-sentence report
  • specialist assessment reports
  • all IOMS information
  • offender plan
  • offender plan reviews, and
  • any other relevant documents.
What to look for

Look for indicators of the offender’s:

  • performance, and
  • attitude.
Next step

Before completing the sentence completion report, a probation officer must meet with the offender for the sentence completion interview to discuss the content of the sentence completion report.

Note: Parts of the sentence completion report should be drafted before the interview for discussion with the offender.
