When the offender informs the probation officer he/she wishes to make an application to the court regarding the sentence, the probation officer should:
remain neutral with respect to the application
advise the offender to seek legal advice
advise the offender to make an application through the court registrar
if required, make submissions regarding the application, and
provide on-strength information for the hearing date.
