Before beginning
Before beginning any CWC induction, ensure the rules for community work centres are displayed on a notice board either:
- in the main assembly room, or
- if not in the main assembly room, where the induction will be conducted.
Tasks
The following tasks are to be completed either before or after a CWC group induction.

From the previously completed work placement assessment form, confirm the offender's availability for reporting, including:
- days, times and hours available to attend community work (CW), and
- other issues, e.g. special needs due to vulnerability, witness protection, contamination, etc.
Notes:
- The offender may be assigned to more than one work party or centre, to accommodate the days/hours to be worked in the week.
- The offender may only work a maximum of 10 hours a day and no offender may be allowed to do more than 40 hours per week.
- Check with the supervising probation officer for other time commitments or sentence requirements, e.g. the offender may be:
- attending rehabilitative programmes
- attending other programmes
- subject to supervision, parole/release or home detention (HD), or
- meeting family/employment commitments, etc.

Check the availability of work parties to accommodate the offender's availability.
Notes:
- Hours of work. Work parties may be arranged for 4, 6, 8, or 10 hour work projects.
- Offenders can work fewer than 4 hours a day by arrangement.
- Meals will be provided for offenders working 6 hours or more at CWC placements.

Allocate the offender to a work party (or parties, if multiple days to be worked).

Issue the CW written instruction to report (ITR) identifying:
- reporting location
- reporting days
- frequency
- time for reporting, and
- number of hours to be worked each day.
