This chapter provides information regarding the use of sanctions in response to non-compliance. It provides information on the different types of sanctions available, and when it is appropriate to use them.
A sanction is any form of action taken by the probation officer/senior community work supervisor in response to non-compliance that does not involve legal enforcement action. Examples of sanctions are:
Sanctions are imposed when an offender commits a minor infringement that is not serious enough to warrant breach action or an application to the court.
Note: Unless the non-compliance is of a serious nature, consideration should be given to using the full range of sanctions available before taking legal enforcement action.
