Purpose

The BWLS PAC form should be actioned as soon as it is received. This ensures that, if at all possible, BWLS programmes and hours are completed early in the sentence.

Note: The offender must meet the usual community work (CW) timeframes, and continue to undertake CW hours while a BWLS assessment is completed.

The PAC form

The completed PAC form sets out:

  • offender details
  • CPPS staff member’s details
  • programme provider/agency details
  • details of the assessment, and
  • details of any proposed programme.

The form should be returned to CPPS within two weeks of sending the referral for assessment, and/or within one week of the confirmed assessment date.

Note: If this form is not returned within the expected timeframe, follow up with the provider or Work and Income to find out when to expect the form.

Appropriate procedure

Review the returned PAC form, and consult the table for the next steps in the process.

If the form shows…

then refer to this chapter, the topic…

BWLS needs but a programme is not available When Offender’s BWLS Needs cannot be Addressed.
the offender does not have BWLS needs When Offender does not have BWLS Needs.
the offender did not attend the scheduled assessment meeting When Offender did not Attend Assessment.
