Procedure

Follow these steps when the offender does not have BWLS needs.

  • Update IOMS casenotes to:
    • record the outcome of the BWLS assessment, and
    • credit the offender’s community work (CW) sentence with the time taken to participate in the referral and assessment steps for BWLS.

Note: This should be done in the report in screen, as a report in for CW.

  • Place the completed PAC form on the offender’s hard copy file.

Was the offender screened as having any other BWLS needs?

If… then…
yes consider whether the offender should be referred to another provider (if so, go back through the referral process).

no continue to step 3.

Advise the offender (in writing) that:
  • they have not been assessed as having BWLS needs, and
  • they must continue to complete their CW sentence as CW hours.
