Introduction

The recording of BWLS hours is to be completed weekly and recorded in IOMS casenotes, and manually on the BWLS monitoring record.

The hours are only entered into the IOMS report in screens to be counted against the sentence when:

  • the BWLS programme has been completed or terminated, and
  • a decision has been made about whether to count the hours.
Time to be counted

Time spent by the offender:

  • completing any screening, referral or assessment activities should be recorded in the IOMS report in screen with a report to type of CW. It should not be counted as BWLS hours.
  • attending and participating in an approved BWLS programme should be recorded in IOMS casenotes and manually on the BWLS monitoring record (where appropriate) as BWLS hours.

Note: Following the end of programme process and a decision to count the BWLS hours, these hours will be entered in the IOMS report in screen with a report to type of BWLS.
