Introduction

This chapter details the process for dealing with complaints received by the Community Probation Service.

The complaints procedure is available to all offenders who are or were subject to a sentence or order managed by the Community Probation Service, as well as other persons external to the Department of Corrections.

As far as practicable, offenders and others should be encouraged to address any issues at the lowest possible level. Probation Officers and Service Managers should make themselves available to discuss issues of concern.

If this informal process does not satisfy the complainant or the complainant does not wish to use this mechanism, a formal complaint should be registered and referred to the Area Manager.
