Introduction

Official information includes any information held by the Department of Corrections. It may be:

  • personal information - information about the person making the OIA request, or
  • non-personal information - any information other than "personal information".

Formats

Official information includes information held by the Community Probation Service:

  • on paper
  • in the computer (including IOMS, emails, and any other documents)
  • on film (eg. video or microfiche), and
  • as knowledge of a fact or state of affairs by officers and employees of the Community Probation Service in their official capacity (this can include knowledge gained through conversation and interview whether or not recorded in writing).

Note: Official information includes manuals and other publications that contain policies, principles or guidelines to making decisions that affect a person or organisation.
