Overview

S.16 of the OIA indicates that, generally, release of information should be in the manner preferred by the requester.

Information can be released:

  • by inspection
  • by copy (eg. paper copy of file/reports/notes, copy of video)
  • by arrangements to hear or view
  • transcript
  • as a summary, or
  • by oral information about the content.

In most cases the release of information will be in written form. If the response contains copies of documents, it should be copied onto OIA paper. This can be obtained from Head Office.

Note: If the information is not provided in the manner requested, then a reason must be given.
