CPS responsibilities

The table below outlines CPS responsibilities when SPIs are not completed.

If CPS is aware that …

then CPS …

  • an offender is being sentenced to imprisonment without a completed SPI, or
  • the SPI will not be completed within the timeframe

should contact the Principal Corrections Officer of the receiving prison's assessment unit to advise them of the issue and detail:

  • when the SPI is to be completed by, or
  • if no SPI is to be completed, and the reason, ie. an addendum report has been completed.

PPS responsibilities

The table below outlines PPS responsibilities when SPIs are not completed.

If an eligible inmate arrives in Prison…

then, before undertaking the OCN, the Sentence Planner…

with no SPI or Level 2 report available in IOMS

should contact the CPS Service Manager at the Sentencing Court to ensure that:

  • a Level 2 report has not been completed, and
  • the PRN/Drivers licence number and identity of the offender matches the one used by CPS.

with a Level 2 report available in IOMS but no SPI

should contact the CPS Service Manager at the Sentencing Court to determine when the SPI will be completed.
