Objective

The agreement with Inland Revenue is intended to reduce re-offending by facilitating the reintegration of offenders into the community. It is acknowledged that:

• offenders have special needs for reintegrative support, particularly on release from prison or on community-based sentences, and
• financial management is important to the successful reintegration of offenders.

Topics covered

The following services to be provided by the Inland Revenue Department are included in the schedules to the MoU:

• provision of printed and electronic information
• provision of one-to-one advice on tax matters, and
• provision of seminars on topics such as; tax debt, overpayments, disputes, family support, child support issues.
