Tasks at each phase

Within the offender management process, the functions of the schedulers and movement co-ordinators carry with them a number of specific tasks associated with each prisoner’s plan. The lists below shows, in broad terms, those tasks at each phase of the process. Procedures are detailed in later parts of this manual.

Schedulers

Prepare offender plan

  • Matches the activities chosen by the planner with those available.
  • Works with the planner to develop initial draft of the plan.
  • Makes activity referrals to providers.
  • Discusses placement with movement co-ordinator.
  • Liaises with programme co-ordinator(s) and Corrections inmate employment (CIE) to maintain the database, recording up-to-date information and details on available services and vacancies.

Manage Offender Plan

As required, works with the sentence planner or case officer to modify the plan and reschedule activities.

Prepare for Release

Supports the sentence planner in determining post-release programmes in CPPS.

Movement co-ordinators

Receive and induct

  • Co-ordinates all transfers in and out.
  • Notifies schedulers of all movements.

Post-sentence assessment

Co-ordinates regional muster to ensure all prisoners undergo assessments within the appropriate unit.

Prepare offender plan

  • Liaises with schedulers to establish appropriate placements for prisoners.
  • Organises all transfers (both internal and external) and placements.

Manage offender plan

  • Arranges transfers required to meet offender plan activities as scheduled.
  • Manages the regional muster to ensure sentences are managed according to their plans wherever possible.
  • Co-ordinates movements in a muster crisis in accordance with the transferability rating.

Prepare for release

Notifies schedulers of all releases.
