Who does it
The staff of the Custodial Support Unit, referring to the SCO or PCO of the Receiving Unit, places the prisoner into a Unit or Wing.
When you do it
You take the prisoner from the Receiving Office and place them into a Unit or Wing after they have been received and assessed by the Receiving Officer.
See: Chapter 2-1 Receive and Assess Prisoner.
What you do
The steps involved in placing a prisoner are summarised below.
- Confirm the prisoner’s identity with the Receiving Officer.
- Be sure you:
- have the correct paper work, and
- know which area the prisoner has been allocated to (by the Principal or Senior Corrections Officer).
- Identify any safety, security or personal concerns – e.g. do they need to be segregated?
- Escort the prisoner to the Unit/Wing.
- Pass paper work to the PCO or SCO of the custodial unit.
