This part sets out how:
This diagram shows where in the process this phase occurs.

Activity progress forms are completed by corrections staff in order to record whether or not a prisoner has achieved an activity. Some activities do not need to have an activity progress form filled out for them, as the information is collected in other ways. An example of this is the activity of “I will get/keep the security rating of…….”
Each prisoner category is managed with an emphasis that reflects the special characteristics of that category. The emphasis that applies to each prisoner category is shown below:
The offender plan activities will focus on safe, secure and humane containment, as well as health, well-being and support while in prison. Consequently, the prisoner management process will concentrate on achieving these activities in the relatively short time available.
The offender plan activities will have a re-integrative focus. Consequently, the prisoner management process will concentrate on achieving these activities in the relatively short time available. Some of these prisoners will have enough time to address their offending as well.
For this category of prisoner, there is a heavier emphasis on limiting the negative effects of being in prison through employment and health, well-being, lifestyle and support activities. There is, however, some scope for a less intensive approach to managing the prisoner around rehabilitative activities.
There are a number of differences in the way that offender plans for functional support prisoners are handled. See the “Functional support” page in each chapter for more information.
For this category of prisoner, the emphasis is on gaining or maintaining the prisoner’s motivation to attend the rehabilitative programme they have been scheduled to go on.
