Policy Standards
- Internal prisoner movements are co-ordinated, documented, supervised and managed to ensure prisoner safety and compliance with custodial requirements and re-integrative services.
Performance Standards
- Prisoners are moved in a safe, secure and efficient manner.
- Each prison has a documented daily prisoner movement schedule.
- Prisoner movements are documented, co-ordinated and communicated to those who require the information to complete their job requirements.
- Completed prisoner movements are checked for compliance with the site’s prisoner movement schedule.
- The degree of supervision of prisoners during movements reflects the security and classification status of the prisoner.
- If a prisoner does not arrive at the scheduled location within five minutes of the required time the relevant Officer is to be informed immediately.
- Each prison has a designated internal prisoner movement co-ordinator.
- Wherever practicable, the following groups of prisoners are not to be moved together:
- men and women prisoners
- remand and sentenced prisoners
- segregated and non-segregated prisoners
- youths and other (adult) prisoners
