Procedure Standard

  • Clothes and bedding are maintained to a suitable level of hygiene and are maintained in a good state of repair.

Procedure

  1. All clothing issued is to be maintained in a good state of repair. Prisoners are not to deface clothing in any way.
  2. Prisoners may be subject to a Misconduct Report if any institution property is knowingly damaged or destroyed in any way while issued to that prisoner
  3. All prison-issue clothing is to be replaced in a fair wear and tear basis.
  4. Upon discharge, clothing is to be assessed for re-issue. If suitable, clothing is to be laundered and repaired as required for re-issue to prisoners.
  5. All used footwear is to be reassessed as to condition, sanitised and re-issued if appropriate.
  6. Appropriate safety clothing for prisoners in industry / employment is to be provided.
  7. Prison-issue clothing is to be laundered at least twice a week.
  8. Unit Officers are to ensure prisoners maintain a high degree of clothing cleanliness and presentation.
