- All First Responder knives are immediately available for use by staff to assist in reducing harm, maintaining life, and preventing secondary incidents.
Glass-front cabinets
- All First Responder knives are held in wall-mounted breakable glass-fronted cabinets placed in:

- areas easily accessible to staff in units (i.e. wing offices).
- areas easily accessible to staff in close proximity to cells used by prisoners subject to a segregation direction under section 58, 59(1).(b) or 60 of the Corrections Act 2004, or subject to a penalty of cell confinement.
