- Work projects in the community are negotiated with the sponsor, finalised, and evaluated on completion.

Procedure
- A request for a community project is received and referred to the project co-ordinator.
- A Project Manager is appointed to evaluate the proposed project.
- The sponsor is contacted and the proposed project evaluated using the Community Project Assessment form (E.15.01.F1).
- A recommendation on whether the project should progress and any options is made to the Project Coordinator.
- The proposed project is discussed with appropriate local Community Probation Service Manager.
- The project is either approved or declined.
- If approved the Project Manager negotiates and finalises the community project agreement with the community sponsor on the Community Project Agreement form (E.15.01.F2).
- The Project Manager selects prisoners to undertake the project.
- The project workplace is evaluated using the Community Project Hazard Identification form (E.15.01.F4) prior to any work commencing.
- The Work Party Officer is advised of the location and specifications of the project, given a copy of the agreement, and a work party assigned.
- The project commences and progress is monitored using the Community Project Evaluation form (E.15.01.F3).
- On the project's completion it is evaluated using the Community Project Evaluation form (E.15.01.F3).
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Prison Manager
- Appoint community work project co-ordinator.
Community Work Project Co-ordinator
- Appoint Project Manager.
- Discuss proposed project with appropriate local Community Probation Service Manager.
- Approve / decline project.
- Advise sponsor of decision.
- Identify work hazards using the Hazard Identification form (E.15.01.F4).
Community Work Project Manager
- Contact sponsor to evaluate project.
- Negotiate and finalise projects with sponsor.
- Advise Work Party Officer.
- Select prisoners for work project.
- Complete and evaluate project (E.15.01.F3).
