- If the prisoner mother arrives at the prison with her baby, temporary arrangements may be made for the baby to remain with the prisoner mother until a formal application is decided.
- The temporary admission to a Self-care unit may be granted by the Prison Manager in exceptional circumstances. When the Prison Manager grants temporary admission pending the formal application, it must be explained to the prisoner mother that there is no guarantee the formal application will be granted. If it is not granted, alternative arrangements must be made for the care of the baby.
- All such emergency applications must be processed immediately upon reception by the Prison Manager or On-call Manager.
