Purchases
Prisoners may not purchase:
- Restricted or prohibited items as identified in the prisoner property system.
- Services not authorised by the Unit Manager.
Local Prisoner Purchasing Procedure
The local prisoner purchasing procedure is designed to:
- Enable regular access for prisoners to purchase basic goods for personal use or consumption from one primary supplier.
- Include special provisions to accommodate the needs of short-term prisoners (less than 7 days).
- Provide access to an extended range of more specialised items - (clothing, shoes, books, activity tools, materials and equipment etc in accordance to the prisoner's sentence plan).
- Enable reasonable access to purchase goods of a cultural nature in accordance with local cultural policy, obtained through a reputable source on the advice of the Cultural Development Group or Iwi as appropriate.
