Procedure Standard

  • Prisoners are issued with sufficient clothing.

Procedure

  1. Care of all clothing issued is the prisoner’s responsibility and he will be held accountable for its use.
  2. A supply of issue clothing is to be maintained at a level that exceeds the amount required to supply the Prison’s maximum prison population.
  3. In order to ensure continuing and regular supply, the Unit Manager will ensure all surplus clothing and bedding are returned to the laundry.
  4. The following items are considered to be a standard issue to all inmates and under normal circumstances will have these items in their possession:
    • 1 x Tracksuit;
    • 1 x Shorts;
    • 1 x T-shirt;
    • 1 x Singlet (on request, sentenced inmates only)
    • 1 x Footwear;
    • 3 x Underwear (on request); and
    • 3 x Socks (on request).

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Internal Services Manager

  1. Ensure the ACRP issue clothing is laundered to a high standard.

Receiving Officer

  1. Encourage all prisoners to wear institution-issue clothing. Receive and receipt prisoners’ personal clothing then issue the prisoners with the ACRP attire.

Laundry Instructor

  1. Ensure all units/prisoners have at least two kit changes per week.
